FAQ #16

My DTK motherboard only can support CPU up to Pentium III 550MHz. I want to install 700MHz CPU. What can I do?

Ans: Because of the hardware limitation, you only can find the new CPUs that Intel had locked up the multiplier inside the CPUs and the end-user can't over frequency ratio with the CPU. There will no effect of the motherboard multiplier jumpers setting to the new CPUs.
There is one thing that you have to notice. The new Pentium III CPUs have two kinds of Bus speed. One is 100MHz, another is 133MHz. If your motherboard only supports 100MHz Bus speed. You must find the CPU that is running 100MHz Bus speed and had been locked up the multiplier inside the CPU.
